My life/ A True Hero

Someone left this for me and I thought I'd share it.

I came by today to see you
I had to let you know
If I knew the last time that I held you was the last time
I'd have held you and never let go

It's kept me awake nights, wondering
Lie in the dark, just asking why
I've always been told
You won't be called home
Until it's your time

I guess heaven was needing a hero
Somebody just like you
Brave enough to stand up
For what you believe and follow it through
When I try to make it make sense in my mind
The only conclusion I come to
Is heaven was needing a hero
Like you

I remember the last time I saw you
You held your head up proud
I laughed inside
When I saw how you were standing out in the crowd
You're such a part of who I am
Now that part will just be void
No matter how much I need you now
Heaven needed you more

Cause heaven was needing a hero
Somebody just like you
Brave enough to stand up
For what you believe and follow it through
When I try to make it make sense in my mind
The only conclusion I come to
Is heaven was needing a hero
Like you

Heaven was needing a hero and that's you

A beautiful sentiment. He was a hero. He was a gift in your life, your sisters.. your family's.. and through you , he was a gift in mine.

Death is not easy to understand nor accept when a person is killed. Life is not fair... mostly indifferent.

A friend sent me the poem Ascension by Colleen Hitchcock. I found it to be beautiful .

Death changes people. It made me quieter... it was difficult to deal with people. To see him dead. I can still see it all in my head when I let the images come in.

It takes the time it takes. That's the bottom line. It takes the time it takes to heal, yet, forever changed. Nothing is ever the same, although life can be good; just different from before.

Be good to yourself!

Start using your hero's name, Shelly. It will help you...bring him out from your shadows of sorrow.

Life is so transient. Every day, hug your husband and children and tell them that you love them. None of us are sure about tomorrow.
